Just outside the Roundhouse Lodge on Whistler Mountain is one of Canada’s most unusual banking services: a ski-thru ATM, the first of its kind and part of a new five-year partnership between CIBC and the Whistler Blackcomb resort.
Opened earlier this month, the ski-thru ATM is already proving popular with skiers planning a purchase from nearby cash-only vendors. It’s unique features have attracted some attention, including the ski pole holders and heating lamps, but the ski-thru ATM still offers all of the same banking services as every other CIBC ATM.
And all with a truly magnificent view of the world-famous Whistler Blackcomb resort, the official alpine skiing venue for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. It boasts over 200 marked runs, 16 alpine bowls, three glaciers, and one of the longest ski seasons in North America. CIBC is also involved with the resort’s two Guest Satisfaction Centres and provides whistles, tissues and hand warmers as part of free mountain orientation tours.
The ski-thru ATM is just the first surprise from the partnership between CIBC and Whistler Blackcomb, with many more in store – including on Family Day (February 8) and Canada Day, which is also CIBC’s 150th anniversary.
